Insider has announced that K3 Capital Group plc and KBS Corporate Finance have been shortlisted for four awards in the upcoming North West Dealmakers Awards 2017.
The event celebrates the achievements of the North West’s corporate M&A professionals and acknowledges those that have stood out over the past year.
Following a hugely successful year, K3 Capital Group plc has been shortlisted for the Flotation of the Year award, and KBS Corporate Finance has been shortlisted for the Mid-Market Team of the Year, Deal of the Year (£10m-£50m) and Deal of the Year (Sub £10m) awards.
The nomination for the Flotation of the Year award follows our holding company, K3 Capital Group plc, listing on the London Stock Exchange and beginning to trade on AIM earlier this year. Upon admission, the Group’s market capitalisation was valued at £40.1m. This value steadily increased to circa £51.0m (as of FY17) in the weeks following the float, indicating an increase in share price of over 20% in the short space of seven weeks to the close of the financial year. As of 28th September 2017, K3 Capital Group’s market capitalisation was valued at £62.0m, representing an increase of 59% on the initial Group value on the day of the float.
KBS Corporate Finance’s inclusion on the shortlist, especially with regards to the Mid-Market Team of the Year award, is testament to a number of high profile deals completed over the past year, including the acquisitions of Vertik-Al Limited by a well-respected UK venture capitalist, Corbetts The Galvanizers by the Canadian private equity firm, Ardenton Capital, and Natures Aid Limited by STADA Arzneimittel AG, a German trade buyer.
The deal involving Olympic Fixing Group, completed by Andrew Dodd of KBS Corporate, has been shortlisted for Deal of the Year (Sub £10m), and the deal involving Natures Aid Limited, completed by Dave Gardner, Director at KBS Corporate Finance, has been shortlisted for Deal of the Year (£10m-£50m).
Through the deal, Natures Aid was able to benefit from operating under the wing of STADA, a globally operating German trade buyer, and grow its market share further to secure a dominant position in the UK health food supplement industry. Dave and the KBS Corporate Finance team were able to negotiate STADA’s offer to 9x EBITDA and facilitate a clean exit for the shareholders, with 100% of the final deal value being paid in cash on completion.
KBS Corporate Finance has been shortlisted in the Insider North West Dealmakers Awards for the second year running, having been shortlisted for the Mid-Market Corporate Finance Advisory Team of the Year award in 2016. Head of Buyer Intelligence at KBS Corporate Finance, Fahim Amdani, was also shortlisted for an award by Insider earlier this year. Fahim was nominated for the Young Business Development Professional Award in the Insider Young Professionals Awards 2017, and was highly commended in his category.
The winners of the North West Dealmakers Awards 2017 will be announced at an awards ceremony, set to take place on Thursday 26th October at Manchester Central.
