    Top 15 M&A deals of 2014

    According to a report by Thomson Reuters, The biggest deal of 2014 was Comcast Corp’s estimated $42 billion acquisition of Time Warner. The Mergers and Acquisitions Full year Review 2014 revealed that overall M&A activity saw an increase of 47% across the 12 months.

    The Time Warner deal, which was announced in February, was a culmination of months of speculation over finding a suitable buyer for the media giants. This was closely followed by AT&T’s acquisition of DirecTV in May.

    The top 15 also includes three deals from the healthcare industry, including Activis’s estimated takeover of Allergen in November.

    Amongst the highest profile deals were Facebook’s takeover of WhatsApp and the announcement that BT has agreed a deal to acquire mobile network operator EE.
