UK M&A accounts for almost half of European value

According to a new report by Mergermarket, UK M&A accounted for almost half of the total value announced in Europe in the first half of the year.
During the first 6 months of 2015, the total value of deals within the UK reached almost £130 billion and has already matched the highest annual total since 2008. Deals within the UK make up a total of 45% of European M&A value.
Interest in European technology companies has been a particular highlight of the year so far, with values 21% higher than the same period of 2014. Businesses in the sector have seen strong interest from China and Japan, reaching the highest levels ever seen. Investment from these companies accounted for more than 15% of total activity.
