Lightning specialist Earth Tech strikes bolt-on deal with PTSG

Lightning protection specialist Earth Tech has been sold to Premier Technical Services Group (PTSG) in a deal advised by KBS Corporate.

Founded in 1999 and based near Edinburgh, Earth Tech offers lightning protection compliance-led testing, inspection and associated remedial works across Scotland.

Earth Tech has a broad customer base across public sector estates, infrastructure and commercial property, and has built a strong reputation for technical excellence and service quality. Its operations are underpinned by long-term maintenance contracts and strong levels of recurring revenue.

The company has now joined PTSG, a leading provider of specialist building compliance and safety services, with the acquisition strengthening the Castleford-based group’s position as the UK’s largest lightning protection business and materially enhancing its presence in Scotland.

PTSG will integrate Earth Tech into its Electrical Services division, which is overseen by Mark Mitchell, with the lightning protection testing and inspection team led operationally by Craig Finney, who has managed this area of the Group’s activity for more than 15 years.

The former owners of Earth Tech will remain with the business during a structured handover and integration period to ensure continuity for customers and colleagues.

With five divisions – Access and Safety, Electrical Services, Building Access, Fire Solutions and Water Treatment – PTSG offers over 170 different individual services. The Group employs more than 3,200 highly trained specialists, serving over 90,000 customers and helping to safeguard approximately 400,000 buildings across the UK and Europe.

“This is a high-quality acquisition that strengthens us in a strategically important market,” said Paul Teasdale, co-founder and chairman of PTSG.

“Earth Tech brings deep technical capability, a strong customer base and a highly skilled engineering team, all of which complement our existing lightning protection operations.

“Scotland is a key growth region for us and this transaction gives us greater scale, density and operational leverage in that market.

“It further reinforces our successful strategy of acquiring complementary services and driving organic growth.

“Ours is a proven model that combines disciplined capital deployment with operational integration to create resilient, high-margin businesses delivering essential compliance services across the built environment.”

The acquisition is closely aligned with PTSG’s long-term strategy of building market-leading positions in safety-critical, regulation-driven services, where technical competence, scale and national coverage are decisive advantages.

Greg Ward, PTSG’s CEO, commented: “As with all PTSG acquisitions, our focus is on continuity, integration and long-term value creation.

“We look forward to welcoming the Earth Tech team into the group and working closely with them as we look to further strengthen the UK’s leading lightning protection testing and inspection platform.”

Andrew Dodd, KBS Corporate Director, who advised on the transaction, was delighted to see the process reach a successful conclusion and said: “It was a pleasure to work with all parties on this transaction and I wish them the very best for their future endeavours.”
