Esk Glazing sold to NorDan

On the black windowsill inside, three small potted plants with spiky green leaves add a natural touch. A mirror on the right reflects the window and plants, enhancing the sense of space and light.

Esk Glazing finds a new window of opportunity with NorDan

A majority stake in Esk Glazing, a supplier and installer of windows, doors and other interior fixtures, has been sold to the UK division of Norwegian manufacturer NorDan.

Founded in 1974 by Eric Irons and based in Arbroath, Esk is a family-owned company which provides glazing, door, conservatory, balcony and balustrade services to domestic and commercial clients across Scotland, primarily the north east.

Operating from a recently refurbished headquarters and expanded trade centre, Esk, and its workforce of more than 35, has established a strong foundation for growth – and is now set to deliver even greater efficiency, choice and service to its clients under door and window manufacturer NorDan.

Following a transaction advised on by Joe Norris, KBS Associate Corporate Director, the acquisition will expand NorDan’s existing regional footprint in Scotland, which includes established team hubs in Aberdeen, Inverness and Livingston.

Esk will now play a key role in enhancing NorDan’s delivery capacity and providing additional regional presence. Craig Irons, son of Esk’s founder, will retain a significant shareholding and ensure continuity of leadership, customer relationships and long-term vision.

“This partnership marks a new chapter for Esk Glazing,” said Craig. “We are proud of our heritage and culture, and joining NorDan allows us to broaden our product range and technical resources.

“Together, we are well positioned to not only preserve but also enhance the people-focused service our customers know and trust.”

Dag Kroslid, CEO of NorDan Group, which is based in Moi in the south west of Norway, commented: “As one of northern Europe’s leading door and window manufacturers, NorDan further strengthens its presence in the UK market with the acquisition of Esk Glazing.

“Both NorDan and Esk are family-owned, share a strong heritage and are renowned for their high-quality products and outstanding service.

“I would like to congratulate both NorDan UK and Esk on this exciting new partnership, which will add momentum to growing the business and delivering sustainable, high-performance windows and doors to customers across the UK.”

KBS Corporate’s Joe Norris was pleased the transaction reached a successful conclusion, commenting: “I’m delighted with the outcome we’ve managed to achieve for the vendors. I know they care deeply about the company and its role in the local community, and I believe NorDan is the ideal home for the business to continue to thrive.”
