Geomap owner “happily recommends” KBS after company sale

Charles Potten, owner of Geomap, would “happily recommend” KBS Corporate as a company sales adviser after we successfully secured his exit from the business.

Geomap, based in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, was founded and incorporated in 2003 by Charles, and delivers high-accuracy surveying and geospatial data to water and wastewater companies across the UK.

Offering topographic, utility and drainage surveys, as well as laser scanning, 3D modelling, and photogrammetry, Geomap generates reliable, survey-grade data. This information is essential for supporting design, construction and asset management in complex and operationally constrained environments.

In a transaction advised by Will Griffiths, KBS Corporate Deal Executive, Geomap was sold to Dalcour Maclaren, an Oxfordshire-based leading land and environmental consultancy serving the utilities and infrastructure sectors.

It was a deal which required perseverance in order to reach the desired outcome, but Charles was delighted he had the UK’s No.1-ranked mid-market company sales advisory team on his side to ensure he emerged happy at the end of the process.

In a 5-star online review, Charles wrote: “In the end, we got across the line with a result I’m pleased with, and a lot of that credit goes to Will’s persistence and expertise.

“Selling a business is a big, emotional thing, and having someone like him in your corner makes a huge difference. I’d happily recommend KBS Corporate – and especially Will – to anyone thinking about selling. Thanks again, Will.”

Regarding the future for Geomap, Charles commented: “Joining Dalcour Maclaren allows us to build on the surveying expertise and standards we are known for, while applying that capability at greater scale across major infrastructure programmes in all sectors.

“We are excited to become part of a business with a strong focus on utilities and water, working on projects that make a real difference to network resilience and environmental outcomes.”

For Dalcour Maclaren, the acquisition will complement the company’s established land and access services, allowing for seamless survey delivery.

“Geomap’s specialist land surveying expertise is a fantastic addition to our service offering,” said James Neil, CEO of Dalcour Maclaren.

“Geomap is already working with many of our clients and bringing it into the team means we can support those clients even better with their challenging programmes and projects.

“This marks an exciting new chapter in our growth, adding even more technical strength to help drive the utilities and infrastructure sector forward.”

KBS Corporate’s Will Griffiths was delighted to bring the process to a successful conclusion and said: “It’s been a pleasure to advise and support Charles on this transaction, and I wish him all the best as he begins his next venture with Dalcour Maclaren.”
