Compufast acquired by Abormic Services

Long-established Irish tech specialist enters new era after sale
Irish company Compufast Software has been successfully sold, marking the next chapter for a long-established, family-run IT specialist behind a state-of-the-art, all-in-one workforce management system.
Established in Dublin by John Nicholl in 1985, the business began trading the following year before expanding into the UK in 1991 with a separate operation in Middlesex.
Compufast developed its proprietary platform, Perfast, to support time and attendance, human resources, payroll and recruitment within a single, integrated system. Designed to streamline processes and improve efficiency, the software enables organisations to manage workforce operations in a more cohesive and effective way.
Perfast was among the early HR software solutions to recognise the value of fully integrated Personnel, Payroll and Time & Attendance systems. Since the early 1990s, the platform has been continuously developed and supported, with the flexibility to adapt to each client’s specific requirements.
While John led the UK operation, the Irish business has been run by Orna and Keara Nicholl. Over the years, the system has supported the management of tens of thousands of employees, reflecting the scale and longevity of its client relationships.
After decades of building the business, the Nicholl family took the decision to bring Compufast to market, enabling John’s retirement plans while realising the value created over many years.
A structured sale process generated significant interest, resulting in numerous enquiries and seven competitive offers, providing the shareholders with a range of options to consider.
The strength of the product suite and the loyalty of its client base positioned the business as an attractive platform for further development, as well as a compelling bolt-on opportunity for complementary software providers.
Compufast was ultimately acquired by Brentford-based Abormic Services, a provider of comprehensive IT services, including consultancy, as well as the retail of computers, peripheral equipment and software through specialist channels.
Reflecting on the deal, strong relationships were built throughout the process, resulting in a positive outcome for both parties. The transaction brought together a buyer aligned with the sector and the long-term potential of the business.
We wish John a happy retirement following decades of hard work, the best of luck to the Nicholl family, and every success to Compufast and the wider Abormic Services Group.
