KBS guides Dynamic Rivers to an “excellent business conclusion”

A rocky river flows through a green valley landscape, flanked by trees and yellow-flowering gorse shrubs, with rolling hills in the background.

Specialist environmental consultancy Dynamic Rivers has been sold in a deal advised by KBS Corporate which the company’s Managing Director described as “an excellent business conclusion”.

Dynamic Rivers was established in 2021 by George Heritage (Managing Director) and Sebastian Bentley (Director) and has rapidly become trusted by clients across government agencies, the National Trust, wildlife and river trusts, and local authorities.

Projects on which the company has worked include reconnecting the floodplain at the River Breamish in Linhope, Northumberland; a bespoke restoration solution at Kirkstone Beck in Cumbria; and restoring Scarrow Beck, a vital chalk stream in North Norfolk’s River Bure catchment.

With a team of six specialists, Dynamic Rivers prides itself on enabling clients to understand rivers and their associated landscapes, which is critical in supporting sustainable river basin management, flood risk mitigation and river restoration.

In a deal advised by Joe Norris, Associate Corporate Director at KBS Corporate, with legal services provided by K3 Law, Dynamic Rivers was acquired by Ecology Group, backed by private equity firm Ansor.

Ecology Group, founded in 2025, has grown quickly and strategically, connecting some of the most respected ecological and environmental consultancies to build a new and distinct leader in a crowded, competitive sector.

George Heritage, MD of Dynamic Rivers, posted a five-star online review outlining his experience of the transaction process and wrote: “Worked closely with Joe at KBS throughout the process and found him to be a knowledgeable and level-headed guide. KBS and K3 Law carried us smoothly to an excellent business conclusion.”

Of the deal as a whole, George and his fellow Director, Seb Bentley, commented: “Our team of six has achieved a great deal over the years, and it’s because of this that we’re part of Ecology Group.

“We bring our skills in river and floodplain restoration, geomorphology, hydromorphology, hydrology and hydraulics – something entirely new for the Group.

“We’re still the same Dynamic Rivers our clients trust and our people love working for, but we now have greater access to new services, sectors and clients, and greater investment in the learning, development and training of our team.”

Ecology Group is focused on acquiring more well-respected consultancies to strengthen its position as a leading specialist environmental firm.

“Dynamic Rivers brings something new to the Group, with its specialist knowledge and focus on river and floodplain restoration,” said Chris Heyes, Ecology Group’s Chief Financial Officer. “This of course builds on our existing service offering, but it also means we can deliver even greater value for our clients and nature alike.

“I’m excited to work with George, Seb and the wider team, and looking forward to delivering on our ambitious growth plans with them.”
