KBS praised for “professionalism” in PowerAir sale to Teqnion

KBS Corporate has been recognised for its “professionalism and commitment” by the owner of PowerAir after the company joined the portfolio of Swedish industrial group Teqnion.

PowerAir, which began trading in 1978, is Northern Ireland’s leading supplier of premium air compressors, with in-house maintenance and installation capabilities.

In a sale process led by Dylan Bennett, KBS Corporate Deal Executive, Lisburn-based PowerAir became the 10th company acquired by Teqnion through KBS in less than three years.

However, this transaction was different to the previous nine because PowerAir will serve as a bolt-on acquisition, joining a mini-group in the compressed air segment which also includes Avelair, sold to Teqnion in a KBS-advised deal two years earlier.

Appropriately, Johnny Camblin, co-owner of PowerAir, described his negotiations with Daniel Zhang, Teqnion’s CXO, as “a breath of fresh air” – and also praised the service provided by Dylan Bennett and the wider team at KBS.

“We can’t thank Dylan and all the team at KBS enough for all the hard work and vision to provide us with an introduction to Daniel at Teqnion,” said Johnny. “His approach has been a breath of fresh air and very reassuring.

“This is a huge opportunity for all of us within Powerair. As the distributor for Ingersoll Rand compressors in Northern Ireland, we are very fortunate and excited to join the Teqnion portfolio and add to their group of compressed air companies. We really look forward to working together for many years to come.”

In an online review, Johnny added: “Dylan has been excellent throughout the entire process, providing detailed updates and advice every step of the way. His professionalism and commitment cannot be overstated.”

Daniel Zhang explained the attraction of PowerAir as an acquisition target and the growth prospects for Teqnion’s compressed air segment.

“We’ve been exploring the idea of acquiring not only standalone great platform companies but to actually build small select groups of companies through bolt-ons,” said Daniel. “Avelair is a company we acquired a couple of years ago through KBS and with the leadership of David Wood, the company has gone from strength to strength.

“At the beginning of 2026 we were approached by one of their customers that had heard Teqnion was a good forever home through discussions with the vendors of Avelair, so we decided we would acquire that one.

“Two is not a party, as the saying goes, so we started to look for more companies within the field and through a little bit of luck at our end and a lot of hard work from Dylan at KBS, we got in contact with PowerAir.

“PowerAir gave us a geographical footprint where we had no presence. We got a very good rapport with Johnny at PowerAir and felt he, the team and our current compressed air companies could do a lot of good things together.

“Our hope is that we can transfer knowledge in all directions, free up some time for Johnny to do what he’s best at, and through that grow the company.”

Looking ahead, Daniel outlined why he believes the division is well positioned to outperform the wider compressed air market through both collaboration and acquisition-led growth.

“The compressed air industry is very interesting,” he continued. “It’s one of those things you can only solve through the laws of physics and not by AI or software.

“The industry as a whole is expecting to grow over time. We believe we can ride that wave, but I also believe we can grow faster than the industry through the tight collaborations between our firms in the compressed air group.

“They will still be decentralised and local where it matters, while we benefit from economies of scale and group-wide synergies. On top of that, we hope to acquire more great businesses within this space.

“I’m super-happy that Johnny and his team chose to join Teqnion and our compressed air group. I’m very excited about the prospects of the company and the group, and truly honoured that Johnny decided to entrust us with his life’s work.”

Dylan Bennett of KBS was delighted to bring the transaction to a successful conclusion and commented: “I’m very pleased to have supported PowerAir in taking the next step in its development. This partnership represents an exciting new stage and we wish them every success going forward.

“It was a pleasure working with Jonny and Daniel to help navigate a pragmatic and collaborative approach throughout the process.”
